Help Bolg in the fight of his life
Donation protected
No family ever wants to be in this position or suffer the stress, worry and pain that comes with it. But unfortunately, the Bolger family are facing some tough times. On behalf of our entire family, we are reaching out to our loved ones and friends.
My big brother Darren Bolger, known as Bolg or Daz, has sadly found himself gravely ill. From a routine check-up at the GP a few months ago to finding a 6cm tumour in his bowel last month Daz went in for surgery two weeks ago to have it removed, which should have been fairly routine. Whilst they removed the tumour successfully, they didn’t mend the incision completely, which resulted in complications causing sepsis a blood infection. This required a second emergency surgery. He has been in ICU in an induced sedation and in a very critical condition. The first 72 hours were crucial. We have all been so worried, but thankfully he is strong and has been fighting this. Two weeks in hospital and one week in ICU has passed, he is still heavily sedated. We have been told that his condition is still critical but stable.
Life as Bolg knows it won’t be the same for some time; his recovery will be long and slow. He will remain in the hospital for months and won’t be able to work for who knows how long, but most likely this year at least. This has left us thinking about his future and what we can do to help him concentrate on his health. As most of you know, Daz is a proud, giving man and would take his shirt off to anyone he loved if they needed it. He is also self-employed, meaning while he is enduring all this, he has no income.

We hope that whatever we can raise through Gofundme will alleviate financial pressure like bills and rent. Any amount, large or small, will help immensely. We hope this will make life that little bit easier so that when he wakes up, he can concentrate on his recovery instead of financial woes. Joy his partner, is also not working at the moment so that she can be by his bedside in ICU.
Thanks in advance from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support for our beloved son and brother. Alby, Melissa and Linda Bolger and the entire Family xx
