Help Bosley TOWC Fund An Indoor Tug of War Mat

Tug of War is a completely amateur, non-funded sport, which has been competed at an international level, by teams around the world, for hundreds of years.
It first featured at the Olympics in 1900 and today is still formally recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
Bosley Tug of War Club was founded in the 1950’s and over the last 70 years have amassed an impressive haul of 76 national titles, 11 European titles and 2 world titles for England!
As an amateur sports club, we rely on hosting events to fundraise the money we need to purchase equipment, cover travelling costs to competitions, kit out our members, and generally keep our club going.
During the pandemic, these events have obviously been impossible to host, and as a consequence, the club finds ourselves with a severe shortfall in club finances.
This year, we are looking to compete in the Tug of War Association indoor tug of war circuit after winning 2 gold medals at the national indoor championships and a gold at the AAA indoor championships in 2019.
However, to be able to do this we find ourselves needing to purchase a specialist indoor training mat, having had to return the mat we previously had on loan.
The cost of purchasing a mat, that will meet the required standard and allow our club to train and compete against other top teams, is £3500.

The club is currently attracting new members and we now have several female members in the team, which enables us to compete in mixed competitions. Our aim is to put out a full ladies team in the near future.

If we smash our fundraising target, we will use the surplus funds to purchase kit for our new members so that we can continue turning out smart to competitions.
