Help Brenda Afford Hair

As many of you know, I will be starting chemotherapy on October 5 as the first step in my battle against breast cancer. The chemotherapy I will be on has a 99.9% chance of causing hair loss within the first three weeks of treatment. I was given a prescription for a wig, but insurance will only cover about 50% of the total cost. The picture is from the day I went to try on wigs, and is the one I chose, with the help of a wonderful coworker who gave me her honest opinion when I showed her several pictures that I couldn't decide between. Sorry about the close up! It really wasn't that close, but the GoFundMe site zoomed it way in.
This is certainly not a journey I ever thought I would be on, and hair both feels incredibly superficial and vitally important at the same time. I particularly want a wig for the sake of my 17 first-grade students. I will be talking with them next week about why I will be out so much, and will be mentioning hair loss, but I know it will be much easier for them if they have a teacher who looks as normal as possible throughout this process.
