Help Brett Recover from His Ski Injury

As many of you already know, we have helped others in medical need, and this time it is our own son who needs help. Brett Berns severely injured his knee in a skiing accident recently, and it needs major surgical repair. The good news is he has medical insurance, so we are only asking for donations to cover his living expenses for 3 months while he convalesces after surgery.

I am planning to fly up to Colorado to be with him to help him through the recovery process. He will not be able to bend his knee at all for 6 weeks post-surgery. Nevertheless, his intention is to be back doing therapeutic massages within 3 weeks, God willing. He will wear a brace to keep his leg from bending and hobble around the massage table to help others in their healing journey.

The surgical repair is pretty serious as he has a complete rupture of the mid-substance fibers of his ACL, a complex tear of his medial menisucus, Oseeous contusions on his posterior medial and lateral tibial plateaus, a grade 2 strain of the medial head of the gastocnemius muscle with intramuscular hematoma and a large joint effusion and small Baker's cyst.

As many of you know, Brett has been instrumental, together with his father, Dr. Gary Berns, in helping others on their healing journeys. Now it is Brett that needs help as he got injured just as he was starting his new job in Colorado as a massage therapist, getting rave reviews! If you can find it in your hearts to help him, even just a little bit, he and we will be immensely grateful as it has been a very difficult time dealing with this severe injury and he has been working so far with a knee brace but the surgery needs to be done sooner, rather than later to avoid further injuries.
