Help Brian and Andrea recover

Brian Fields and Andrea Price-Fields are a fully vaccinated, fun, loving couple who are active in both the Star Trek and Medieval/Live Steel Communities. Unfortunately, both are recovering from active COVID, that has been exacerbated by their preexisting conditions. Andrea has asthma, and Brian is diabetic.

 

Andrea first felt ill on December 5th, and tested positive December 9th. She went to the ER December 13 and received

monoclonal antibodies. This treatment helped her recovery significantly. However, she still spent a full 10 days in bed. Her last day of work was December 9th, the same day as her positive results.

 

Last week, Andrea worked a total of 6 hours over 2 days. This is all that she could manage due to lingering COVID symptoms, including incessant fatigue. While her job is secure, Andrea is not sure when she will be able return to full time days. She ran out of paid sick time last week and is currently looking into potential short term disability.

 

Brian's symptoms began on December 8th and he tested positive on December 13th at the ER. Brian was also treated with monoclonal antibodies, in addition to an extremely low blood sugar reading of 29. He accompanied Andrea home, but returned to the ER less than 12 hours later. This time he had more extreme symptoms in addition to low blood sugar. He was admitted. Brian spent 4 days in the hospital before he was discharged on December 16th with instructions to continue recovery at home.

 

When Andrea picked Brian up from the hospital, one of his symptoms was incessant hiccups. These hiccups would continue for a week, finally abating on December 25th. During this time, Brian would return to both the ER and his doctor for treatment on separate occasions. He was finally advised that his hiccups could be a rare side effect to either a medication or COVID itself.

 

Brian has also missed work as a result of his diagnosis and recovery. His last day of work was December 10th - one day after Andrea's positive diagnosis. While his position is secure, because he is a contractor Brian does not have any paid leave at this time.

 

Brian is also not sure what his work schedule will look like going forward. Although his hiccups are finally gone, he still has other symptoms from COVID. This includes lingering fatigue and general weakness, which makes working quite difficult.

 

The funds that we are asking for will go toward immediate bills and expenses for January. This includes general expenses, such as rent, utilities, gas, and car insurance. We both also have medications and follow-up appointments that are necessary as we continue to recover. Monies received will go towards those medical expenses as well.
