Help Brian Congdon with his Medical Expenses
Donation protected
We have created a Go Fund Me account for my father Brian Congdon, to help with the ongoing medical expenses that keep piling up due to the battle he’s been fighting for the past couple of years. My Dad, as many of you know, is not one to ever ask for help. He’s stubborn and independent but would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need, without ever asking for anything in return. This time around he needs our help.
About two years ago very few know, that Brian was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma. After many doctor visits and consultations it was then discovered that his cancer had spread to some of his lymph nodes as well. He then had to have surgery to remove some of the cancerous lymph nodes in his body. From that moment on he started doing targeted therapy. A medication he has to take daily to help control how the cancer cells grow, divide and spread.
For the last few months the targeted therapy has done its job. His cancer shrunk, to unmeasurable amounts and he was starting to feel himself again. Even with COVID happening he still went to work (even when we told him not to). This past week he had a “spell” where he was hospitalized and it was discovered that his cancer had metastasized to his brain. The tumor rests on his frontal lobe, that affects the right side of the body, primarily his arm function. The next steps are still up in the air, he is working with his specialists to determine the next steps going forward. Brian will start targeted radiation therapy in the next few days, to try to shrink the tumor as much as possible.
It is important for him to rest and gain strength for the next leg of his race. We want to take away some of the anxiety he feels, not being able to work right now. We would appreciate any donation! I know for him seeing the support from friends, family, and his community alone, would mean the world! Please share, thank you so much!
