Help Briana Beat Cancer

Briana G, our Bay Elementary 5th grader, is a sweet-loving ten-year-old who enjoys reading, watching movies, hula hooping, and spending time with her parents and 4-year old brother, Justin.

 
On May 23, 2020, Briana was taken to an urgent care after experiencing sudden and excruciating abdominal pain. During the visit, her parents were informed that her symptoms required further testing and advised them to immediately take her to the hospital. ER doctors found a 15-inch mass on her left ovary and she had to undergo emergency surgery to remove it. The surgery was thought to have gone well, and Briana was discharged from the hospital and expected to make a speedy recovery. However, two weeks later at her post-op visit,  Briana and her family received the results from pathology. Sadly, they were informed that the mass was malignant. Briana was diagnosed with a rare and unusual form of Ovarian Cancer for her age and will now require 6-8 months of chemotherapy.


As you can imagine, receiving this news, especially during this current pandemic, was unexpected and difficult for our 5th grader and her parents to process. Mom and dad will now require to miss work to take Briana for her chemotherapy treatment. This fundraiser has been established to help Briana and her family ease the financial burden so that they can focus all their efforts on Briana's treatment, healing, and spending time together. Anyone who knows her parents can attest that they are incredibly giving when it comes to their time, love, and energy for anyone in need. As this Pat-Med family faces the unthinkable and do all they can to help Briana beat cancer, I kindly ask you to please contribute to support the G-L family. Briana G, nuestra estudiante de quinto grado de Bay Elementary, es una niña dulce de diez años que disfruta leer, mirar películas, jugar hula hoop y pasar tiempo con sus padres y su hermano Justin, de 4 años.

El 23 de mayo de 2020, Briana fue llevada a una atención urgente después de tener un dolor abdominal repentino e insoportable. Durante la visita, sus padres fueron informados de que sus síntomas requerían más pruebas y les aconsejaron que la llevaran de inmediato al hospital. Los médicos de la sala de emergencias encontraron un tumor de 15 pulgadas en su ovario izquierdo y tuvo que someterse a una cirugía de emergencia para removerlo. Se pensó que la cirugía salió bien, y Briana fue dada de alta del hospital y se esperaba que se recuperara rápidamente. Sin embargo, dos semanas después, en su visita postoperatoria, Briana y su familia recibieron los resultados de la patología. Lamentablemente, se les informó que la masa era maligna. Briana fue diagnosticada con una forma rara e inusual de cáncer de ovario para su edad y ahora requerirá de 6 a 8 meses de quimioterapia.

Como puede imaginar, recibir esta noticia, especialmente durante esta pandemia, fue inesperado y difícil de procesar para nuestra alumna de quinto grado y sus padres. Mamá y papá ahora deberán faltar al trabajo para llevar a Briana a su tratamiento de quimioterapia. Esta recaudación de fondos se ha establecido para ayudar a Briana y su familia a aliviar la carga financiera para que puedan concentrar todos sus esfuerzos en el tratamiento, la curación y compartir tiempo juntos con Briana. Como esta familia de Pat-Med se enfrenta a lo impensable y hace todo lo posible para ayudar a Briana a vencer el cáncer, le pido amablemente que contribuya a apoyar a la familia G-L.
