Help Briar Rose Get Gender Affirming Surgery
Donation protected
It's been a hard path. Over four years ago I came out as a transgender woman, and started socially and physically transitioning. After about a year I started pursuing vaginoplasty, but the cost was too prohibitive. I then went through a long struggle with mental illness I never fully recovered from that cost me my career and landed me in large amounts of debt. Now, I'm trying to get an orchiectomy. I just learned that my bill AFTER INSURANCE will be nearly $5,000. I could use any help you can offer so that I don't have to put an end to my second try at getting gender affirming surgery.
I have already received letters of support from two therapists, and my current psychiatrist supports me getting this surgery. The surgery is scheduled. All my therapists and doctors believe that this surgery would greatly help treat my gender dysphoria, and help me find some peace. The only roadblock is the cost.
The surgery is scheduled for July 18th, and then the bill will be due soon after that.
Anything left after recovery costs, missed work, the cost of surgery and the processing fees will go toward food for myself and my friend who will be flying into town to take care of me during recovery.
I honestly don't know if I can go through having to cancel another gender affirming procedure. I've been building up to this for years, and even this most recent process has taken over 6 months and included humiliating and oppressive questioning/gate keeping. If this doesn't work out I'm not sure I'll ever be able to fully me.
Please help with whatever you are able.
