Help Bridget and Jonah Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
UPDATE 8/14/23: Thank you all for the outpouring of support for Bridget and Jonah! We are so grateful for each donation. They have been able to make some progress in replacing furniture and kitchen items thanks to you! There is still a long way to go to recovery and rebuilding, but we appreciate you being such a significant part of their journey.
At 5:20 AM on August 3, 2023, a fire swept through the apartment building where Bridget Schmidt and Jonah Ewing lived in Centerville, Ohio (Washington Township). They had moved in the previous Saturday and lived there only 5 days. A sheriff banging on the door awakened them and evacuated the whole building. They were able to grab a few items before escaping the fire. Part of the building collapsed and the apartments were condemned the same day. With the help of firefighters and first responders, Bridget and Jonah were able to save a few personal items, but the apartment building was torn down the next day. They were not allowed to go back for anything, and their furnishings and belongings remained inside. The life they were just beginning was destroyed. They have temporary housing right now and plan to move into another apartment but need financial help to replace what was lost.
Below is local news coverage of the fire. Bridget and Jonah declined to be interviewed, but Bridget can be seen in the video speaking with a news reporter.
Bridget and Jonah attended high school together and were both very involved in Color Guard and Marching Band/Drum Corps, respectively. Bridget graduated college in May 2023 and Jonah is currently finishing his college degree. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will have a meaningful impact helping Bridget and Jonah rebuild.
Thank you for your support!
