I'm Bridget Lacey, here on my family farm in the Alberta Foothills in the beautiful nation of Canada, and I love to Grow Good Things. I've been living and growing things here most of my life; practicing organic growing since my mother and father taught me as a child, and studying permaculture under some of the best minds in the west!
For many years, I've been making hand-made natural products based on the ingredients I grow in my gardens and on my farm, under the Queen Bee Alchemy label. I feel its important to use natural products on my body and within my home, rather than being covered in toxic chemicals at every turn. I make products such as natural Miracle Deodorant, Beeswax Food Wraps, honey from my beehives, beeswax candles, healing salves such as a Skin Soothing Salve which uses wild rosehips I forage, and Arnica montana that I grow right here in my perennial garden. I make BugsPray with a delightful blend of essential oils, soothing bath salts, healing Rosehip Facial Oil, and all manner of canned goods, from salsas and pickles to canned peaches, compotes and Rhubarb Lemonades. I make very small batches of these, and many other products as well.
One of the cool things about making all this, is that I often video myself doing it. Planting gardens, making products, building compost bins, tending bees; whatever I do, I try to record. But the problem is that I am so busy doing all this (along with having a nearly full-time job) that I don't have time to properly share all my videos! I need video editor(s) onboard stat so I can publish these videos and teach other people how to make and grow these good things themselves!
It's one thing to say, catch me at a market or buy from my Grow Good Things website, but as we all know, it is better to teach a man to fish than to sell a fish to him ;) And I also can't obviously make all these products for all the world with my own bare hands; but you can! You too can learn how to do these things and to make and Grow Good Things in your own life. We just need to spread the knowledge out!
I also want to use my voice to talk about the societal and environmental conditions that we find ourselves in, and to propose and promote the myriad solutions that exist for the problems we face. We know the solutions are out there; lets make them happen! And this can happen by spreading the word and encouraging the conversations that will lead to change!
I'm tired of the corporate oligarchy running this world for war profiteers and billionaires! The environment is not a resource to extract, but our one and only precious miracle of a home! We must unite as the grassroots people (the 99%) and demand the power back! How are we going to do that? It starts within your own community, in believing in something, in supporting the good initiatives you see around you. It starts by uplifting the people who work hard to make a positive difference and shine their unique light into the world; people like me!
We all know the cost of living is crippling these days, and I am not immune. Here, I am farm-poor (like house poor but a lot more responsibility). Even though the land we live upon is rich beyond measure, we don't have the financial resources to make it work like it should. We have major infrastructure problems that need solutions implemented yesterday; and I want to film all these improvements! How do we set up two new septic systems? How do we put in a culvert where it is needed? How do we install eavestroughing on all the buildings and engineer better water catchment? How do we recover an old barn into a beautiful learning or meeting space? How do we stop my mum's house from sinking into the ground? All of these 'projects' could become 'lessons' that could be so useful for humanity! But we need help to do any of it.
Add to this that I can't even afford to buy the equipment my bees need (each hive is well over $500 to set up!) I can't afford the ingredients I need to make the salves that people are asking me for. I can't afford the beeswax to make another run of candles. I've gone into major debt over the years trying to make and Grow Good Things here, but the financials just haven't worked out. I need to get out of the hole and stop paying interest to the banks! And I need not to sell the physical products as much as I need to show others that they can make these things too; and to allow the influence to become the sustaining element.
With enough support I could give people good jobs helping make products or just making good things grow. I could employ a videographer when a big project was about to happen. I could hire editors to cut and shape my videos into amazing tutorials and great content. Maybe we could even build straw bale structures or yurts for 'staff' to stay in, who knows?! The sky is the limit.
But to make any of this happen, I need seeds to plant. I need people to believe in me.
I know many of you may be hurting in this economy, I get it. I am only asking you to give if it is within your ability to give. Give only the amount your heart asks you to offer. Even small contributions can add up to an entirely new world for me, and in turn, for those I am able to share it with, including you.
Help me be an influencer that wants to influence a good message, who uses their sphere of influence to bring healing and hope to the world. I don't know how long I can carry on on my own like I have been, but it can't go on forever. I need to get these lessons out to others! So please consider helping me Grow Good Things and have the means to really share them with the world.
