A manga café is a type of café, originating from Japan, where people can read manga. People pay for the amount of time that stay in the café. Most manga cafés also offer internet access like internet Cafes ネットカフェ, Netto kafe) and vice versa, making the two terms mostly interchangeable in Japan.

Nito Café ニートカフェ is a Japanese inspired manga café with a twist that plans to reside in Chicago. In Japan, the word Nito means “introvert”.

But why name it the “Introvert Café”?

Well…even though the idea for Nito stemmed from Japanese manga cafes, it is not only for Anime and manga lovers. Well then who is it for?!

Nito Café is a space for people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, etc. to join and just enjoy a safe space to relax, be social, and be themselves.

Who should be interested in the planning and implementation of Nito Café?

• People of all ages
• Introverts and Extroverts
• Café lovers
• People looking to learn something new
• Anime & Manga Lovers
• People that value personal private spaces
• Those that want to be a part of something amazing and new!

What will Nito Café have?

• 20+ private rooms that allow for privacy to read, sleep, or even work. Each room will come with a table, and be furnished with cushions
• 2 group rooms with a couch and furnishing that will allow groups of friends to gather and watch movies
• A café bar that will sell things such as general beverages and snacks, coffee, tea, and Asian drinks and snacks
• Japanese, Korean, and Chinese language classes
• Anime and Manga drawing classes
• Manga books and anime merchandise
• Meet and Greet panels with local  authors, writers, and artists
• Chairs and couches for casual sitting and reading
• Floor sections decorated with cushions and pillows for casual laying
• A Cosplay team that will entertain at birthday parties and participate at conventions

Donations will be used to assist in acquiring a space, ordering the massive amount of manga available, purchasing merchandise, construction and furnishing, and marketing.

I would like to say that the support of Nito Cafe would mean the world to me and anime fans in Chicago. This would be the first manga cafe in Chicago, the first in the midwest, and the first in the USA.
