Help Bring a Terminal Cancer Patient Home

Donation protected

I am raising funds for legal fees so I can travel to my home, Canada. Currently, I am in the USA on an overstayed visa because, while I was on my visa near the end, I was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

This is not a legal matter, as even my diagnosis is enough for legal status, purely a financial one, legal fees, and government fees.

In June 2023, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and assumed I would live and die within 10 minutes of the hospital in the next 6 months, maybe a year. It is now 16 months, and I want to be able to get on a plane and visit people I love. This would make that real.

If by some miracle I have more money than that, I will use it to do the bucket list items I posted on my AMA. If some miracle beyond that, I will have $15,000 in medical expenses between January 2025 and March 2025 before I reach my max out of pocket, so it will go to medical expenses.

Government Filing Fees
Form I-601 (Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility): $930 (if required for certain health conditions or if already out of status)
Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status): $1,225 (includes biometrics)
Form I-131 (Application for Advance Parole): No fee if filed with Form I-485
Other Forms: If applying for humanitarian parole or deferred action, you may need additional applications with varying fees.
Total Government Fees: Approximately $1,225 to $2,155 (based on eligibility and additional forms).

2. Medical Documentation and Examination Costs
Immigration may require specific documentation of the medical condition, prognosis, and treatment costs. A medical examination may also be required, generally ranging from $200 to $500.
3. Lawyer Fees
Humanitarian-based cases can be more complex, so attorney fees may range between $4,000 and $12,000. This depends on the case’s complexity, documentation, and whether additional waivers or forms are needed.
Estimated Total Cost
For a straightforward application: $5,425 to $14,655 (including all government fees, medical documentation, and legal fees).

funds will be first used to cover gov fees, then legal fees, finally medical bills. that would be 30,000$ total so I think that covers a cost breakdown
