It’s not about charity; it’s about coming together when we feel so helpless, to offer a hand in the only way we can.
We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Charlee Chubb, a bright and beautiful soul, tragically lost in an accident in the Northern Territory. Charlee, just 20 years old, was a young woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, courage, and infectious passion for life.
Earlier this year, Charlee set off from Gympie in Queensland, embarking on a journey to Roebuck Plains Station in the Kimberley, WA. She arrived on a Sunday afternoon in her trusty Toyota, with her saddle and swag in the back, ready for the adventure ahead. Her presence was felt instantly; this tiny girl with a big heart approached with a smile, shook hands, and thanked her hosts with a sincerity that made an indelible impression on everyone she met.
Charlee’s time at Roebuck was marked by her dedication and warmth. She had a knack for fitting in with the crew, bonding over afternoon drinks, music, and chats about her beloved Broncos. She was a quiet achiever, but her impact was enormous—always showing gratitude to the cook, Jo, or discussing rugby league with the gardener, who was a NSW supporter but could never get her to wear a Blue hat.
Her love for the bush and her skill with horses and cattle became evident in no time. John, her mentor, admired her talent so much that he entrusted Charlee with his favorite mare—something unheard of before her. In all the rodeo events, whether it was bull riding or bronc riding, Charlee gave her all. She had the heart of a giant and the courage to match.
Charlee’s love for her family was immense, and she often spoke of them fondly, especially her dad, who was her hero. Even though he worried about her venturing so far from home, he understood her adventurous spirit—one that couldn’t be contained. During her time at Roebuck, Charlee also found love with Willum, and together, they set out for new horizons just a month ago, planning to experience the Northern Territory on their journey home for Christmas.
Charlee had a way of embracing life that was undeniable. Her joy and enthusiasm for everything she did radiated, making her absence even more profound for those who knew and loved her.
Now, in this time of unimaginable loss, we want to bring Charlee home to her family and honor her memory with the respect and care she deserves. This fundraiser aims to ease the burden on her loved ones, helping cover the costs of bringing her home and her funeral arrangements. The Roebuck crew and Charlee’s friends and family across the country have all expressed their grief, and though we can’t change what has happened, we can offer support in this difficult moment.
This is about more than money—it’s about the gesture of kindness and compassion, the small acts that help bind the wounds of loss when words fall short.
Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help Charlee’s family bring her home and honor her beautiful spirit. Together, we can do what friends and family do best—show up, even when we feel helpless, and share the weight of grief in any way we can.
Thank you for helping bring Charlee Chubb home. Rest in peace, beautiful girl.
