Help Bring David Deitz Home Faster and Support His Recovery!
I started this page to support a friend who experienced a terrible accident in January, resulting in a significant disability. When I approached David and Lynlea to discuss my idea, they were initially hesitant due to the incredible support already received from the Illawarra Community.
However, I pointed out that many people still desired to contribute but were unsure how to. With this in mind, I created this GoFundMe page to help David's family cover some of the substantial costs of modifying his living environment, enabling him to return home.
The adjustments required for David's life-changing conditions are extensive and incur considerable expenses. Although David and Lynlea are humble individuals who may not wish to accept additional help from those who have already contributed, I believe there may still be people who missed the opportunity to donate earlier or were unable to do so.
If you know anyone in this category, please share this GoFundMe page with them. No matter how small, every contribution can significantly impact David's life. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you.
David's Story - David Deitz, the beloved principal of Smiths Hill High School, has faced an unimaginable challenge. In January 2023, he was involved in a devastating cycling accident that left him with severe injuries. Although the life-saving surgery on his spine was successful, David is now a quadriplegic with limited mobility and daily excruciating pain in his shoulders and neck muscles.
Before the accident, David was a dedicated educator and a National Cycling Champion, earning multiple medals for his extraordinary skills. His passion for improving the lives of young people was evident in his role as principal, where he made a significant impact on the community.
Since the crash, David has been hospitalised, fighting an uphill battle towards recovery. Now, it's time to bring him home and provide him with the care and support he needs. However, the expenses associated with relocating the family, purchasing a new accessible vehicle, and modifying their surroundings have taken a toll on his family's finances, delaying his homecoming.
Thank you to all the community that has rallied behind this cause. David and his family are immensely grateful.
