Help Bring Disc Golf to Ceiba, Puerto Rico

Ceiba Disc Golf Course is an initiative aimed at providing disc golf to the communities of Puerto Rico. The course will be located in the abandoned golf course of the former Roosevelt Roads military base. At present, the main island has just one course available. This new site will be easily accessible to the public, providing a recreational space for everyone. Its strategic location near the ferry terminal makes it an excellent tourist destination for travelers heading to Vieques or Culebra.

Traveling Chains PR has designed an 18 hole course for the space. We are fortunate to have a fantastic non-profit organization that has contributed funds for land clearing, with work set to commence during the week of January 20th. Approximately 40 acres of the old 9-hole course will be utilized to create the layout, utilizing the existing concrete pathways and maintaining the original flow of the golf course.

The project involves the need for baskets, tee signs, and tee pads. We have applied for grants and contacted distributors and professionals for support, but so far, we have not found any promising leads for obtaining the baskets. If we are unable to raise the necessary funds, we are considering creating makeshift object poles. However, we truly hope that our disc golf community can come together to establish another course for this small island. The estimated cost for baskets, including shipping, is around $7,500, while concrete tee pads and signage are expected to cost approximately $3,000 to $4,000. Although we have a fantastic and growing community of disc golfers eager to contribute their manual labor, we are still facing a shortfall in funding for the required equipment.
