Help A Desperate Mother Bring Her Son (RIP) Home
All funds raised via this GoFundMe will be distributed between Freddie's Mother in Venezuela, the little migrant shelter in Puerto Palomas, Chihuahua Mexico, and the farmworkers near Hatch New Mexico that collected their own money to pay for Freddie's cremation.
Message from Freddie's Mother...
"I am a desperate mother who has lost her son in the United States. My son traveled there in hopes of getting a new heart valve but, tragically, he did not survive.
I am pleading for your help to transfer my son's remains to Venezuela. I have very limited resources and cannot afford the expenses on my own.
In 2013, my son suffered from rheumatic fever, which severely affected his heart. He underwent a successful valve replacement surgery that year at the Children's Cardiac Hospital in Caracas. Unfortunately, his valves needed replacement again after eight years, prompting him to emigrate in search of medical help.
He first went to Peru but couldn't find assistance for the surgery there. Determined, he made the perilous journey through the Darien jungle to the United States. Despite his efforts to stabilize his situation and start the process for another surgery, his heart was too weak. He had his first heart attack and was hospitalized in Albuquerque, but it was too late. His heart couldn't resist, and he passed away.
Please, any contribution you can make will help bring my son's ashes back home to Venezuela. Thank you."
Many people are involved with helping Freddie find his way home. The farmworkers he labored with near of Hatch, New Mexico, collected their own money to help pay for Freddie's cremation. The little migrant shelter in Puerto Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico, helped facilitate the location and recovery of Freddie's remains and belongings.
The Battalion Search and Rescue is grateful and honored to assist in this fundraiser and the reunification of Freddie's remains and personal effects with his grieving Mother. Again all funds raised via this GoFundMe will be distributed between Freddie's Mother, the shelter, and the farmworkers.
Freddie suffered heart valve failure on March 22nd near Hatch, New Mexico, and was transported to the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque where he died. Freddie was born on March 11th 1999, so he had just turned 25 years old at the time of his passing. Thank you for your consideration.
