Help bring glass recycling back to Birmingham!
Glass Half Full (http://www.glasshalffull.co/)) is planning to operate in Birmingham in the near future. They will be offering glass pickup to residential and commercial locations, along with a drop-off center. In order for this project to be a success (as it has been at their other location in New Orleans), we are raising money to bring a flatbed truck of recycled glass sand and aggregate, donated by Glass Half Full, to Birmingham for local companies to sample, test, and use for their industries.
We will be having a seminar on the product at Sloss Furnaces in November for people to learn about the glass recycling products and we will be giving free samples. We need to raise $1,500.00 for the trucking costs of transporting this material. Please donate in whatever amount you can. Donations over $20 will be invited to get samples from Sloss. Donations over $50 will be invited to the luncheon and seminar, and get access to samples.
Recycled glass can be used as a substitute for aggregate in construction, sidewalks, parking lots, landscaping, sand blasting, pool filtration, as a composting material, and in many other applications!
This video shows how Glass Half Full in New Orleans also uses recycled glass sand to help restore coastal areas. They have diverted 5 million pounds of glass from landfills since 2020! Help make a positive impact in Birmingham by supporting this cause.
If you know of any businesses who are interested in using this material, please send us a message. We want to get the word out!
