HELP BRING GREEN ZEBRA BACK TO LIFE AFTER HURRICANE HELENE

We are devastated to share that Hurricane Helene has torn through Green Zebra Cafe on St. Armands Circle in Sarasota, Florida, with 5 ft storm surge, leaving our restaurant in ruins. Everything we’ve built over the years has been destroyed, and we’re left with no choice but to tear it all down to the studs.

But this isn’t just about the building; it’s about the heart and soul of Green Zebra—our incredible team, who are now without work. These are the faces you’ve come to know, the hands that have served you, and the people who make Green Zebra the special place it is.

The journey to rebuild is going to be long and difficult, but we believe that with your help, we can get there.

Update: October 2, 2024

The past few days have been nothing short of exhausting, but we’ve been working around the clock to clear out the debris from our beloved Green Zebra Cafe. With each broken piece we removed, we were reminded of the memories this space has held for us and for our community. Despite the heartbreak, we are determined to move forward.

We’re hopeful that the water restoration company will be able to start soon, bringing us one step closer to rebuilding with new drywall and flooring. It’s a long road ahead, but we are keeping our fingers crossed and our spirits high.

As we focus on rebuilding, our thoughts are with our fellow neighbors whose businesses were also devastated by the storm. We know the challenges they face, and our hearts go out to them as they, too, work to recover from this disaster.

Dear Green Zebra Cafe Community,

Due to the approaching Hurricane Milton and in an effort to keep our team safe, we will be closing our Green Zebra Downtown location today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The safety of our staff and customers is our top priority as we prepare for this storm.

Additionally, we have had to pause the construction and restoration at our St. Armands location due to the upcoming storm. We are hoping for the best and praying that Milton spares our beautiful Sarasota. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of the hurricane.

Please stay safe, and we remain hopeful that our Green Zebra Downtown will survive for the sake of our hardworking team and loyal customers.
