Help Bring Mallick Home to Indiana

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Gloria, I'm 71 years old and Wendnesday 9/25/24, my 40 year old son, Mallick Quraan, past away in the Intensive Care Unit at LA General Hospital. He was 5 days post op after having major surgery. He had his spleen removed, part of his pancrease, his left kidney, and part of his colon. He first contracted MRSA 6 years ago as an abcess on his left hip while living in an apartment building in downtown Los Angeles. Last October, the MRSA returned with a vengeance, the apartment building he was living in at that time was shut down by the Board of Health; because, 11 people had died of illnesses. It infected his left kidney, the hospital kept inserting drain tube's in to his kidney to drain the abcess but the infection kept spreading. He would go into the hospital about twice a month to have a kidney tube inserted to drain the abcess. The MRSA spread over several months into his entire left upper and lower cavities. Finally last Thursday, 9/19/2024, Mallick, weak and exhausted after a 12 month battle, he made it to LA General Hospital and the next morning he was taken in for a 6 hour emergency surgery. He was healing beautifully, the chief surgeon said that everything was excellent and Wednesday Mallick called me he was concerned about the pills he was given he said that there were too many and he didn't like the way they made him feel, I told him that he could refuse his meds and he said she yelled at me. He says that I have to go to a different hospital I said which one? He said the good samaritan. Mallick sounded rested, alert, and confident, I said okay, let me call in to the nurses station to page the doctor and get you a medical transport, he said okay and we hung up. I called back in immediately my number showed up on the caller ID because I had the direct number for the unit. His nurse answered, I said this is Gloria, Mallicks Mom, Mallick called me and said he needed to be move to another hospital, I need you to page the doctor so I can request a medical transport, he was concerned about the pills he had been given he said he didn't like the way they made him feel. The nurses reply was loud, very angry, and sounded manic, HE WAS RUDE TO ME!!! It was so aggressive it blew the wind out of me, I told her he just had extensive surgery and he isn't well. He has the right to refuse his medicines. I need to page the doctor for a medical transport he wants to go to a different hospital, and she said in a very sarcastic tone, loud and snooty, OOOOH HE ISNT GOING ANYWHERE!!! I asked he to just page the doctor. I hung up and immediately my phone rang. One of the doctors on the surgical team was in Mallicks room he said Mallick should not be going anywhere, he still has a small 3.5x5cm abcess at the base of his left lung abd ut is healing but it needs to be completely healed, and I asked him if Mallick will need vancomycin for 6 to 8 weeks? The doctor said, No, he does not have systemic MRSA. I said wow! That is amazing, divine intervention, an answer to prayers. He handed the pho e to Mallick, he sounded good, alert and no distress. He said I called my brother Jimmy in Bakersfield CA, that Jimmy was coming to take him to Good Samaritan. I said I still want to notify the doctor for medical transport. He said I love you and I said I love you back. I hung up and immediately called the nurses station, the lead surgeon answered and he said, as the other doctor was coming out of the room I was going in and I found you son lifeless and with out pulses. I asked him about the doctor's integrity, and the other doctor said that he is new but not that new and we like him. I proceeded to tell the head surgeon about my conversation with the nurse earlier. He said they were bagging him/coding him I said I want an ET-tube and vented don't let him go I hung up for a couple of minutes and called him right back he told me he went over and over the chart and couldn't find anything adverse, labs were trending perfectly, x-rays were perfect, internal scans were excellent, I reiterated the conversation with the nurse and the doctor said I am going to order an autopsy. Mallick was planing to move home with me and his younger brother as soon as he was well enough to travel. He said that we will laugh and eat together the way we used to. It has been 6 years since I last saw him I need to bring his body home from California to Indiana, I just want to see him one last time, to visit with him and tell him how much I love him and how much I already miss him. Mallick was a free spirit, he made friends every where in his travels and was one of those people that no one ever forgets, when he lived in LA, he would find broken scooters, repair them and give them to homeless people with lower extremity injuries who couldn't walk, sometimes he would be seen pushing someone in there wheelchair. He was always taking groceries to older people with mobility issues. Please help me bring my son home, he has 2 Facebook accounts, one with 3k friends and the other with 1.9k. If everyone would pitch in a couple of dollars I could pay to bring his body home and his funeral expenses. Thank you in advance for helping us.

I have been trying since Mallicks death Sept.25, 2024 to get Mallick home from California to Indiana. This has been a terrible ordeal. I have creamation society of L.A. working with me to fly his body to Indiana for $3,300 these costs include work that has already been completed the regerstration of the death certificate which took three weeks, picking up his body at the hospital, storing his body waiting to be flown, Preparing his body according to regulation, taking him to the airport and the cargo ticket to Indiana. Chandler funeral home of Ellettsvile, IN for local services at $1,200.

***UPDATE***
Through the kindness of donations of family and friends, I have $2,500 and only need $800 more to get Mallick home to Indiana, I will still need the $1,200 for Chandler funeral home in Ellettsville, Indiana, I have been so distraught that when I was trying to add updates I accidentally deleted the original gofund me page.
