Help Bring my dad, Ivan Mendez Home and Cover Funeral Costs

My name is Janelly Avila, and I am heartbroken to share the passing of my beloved father, Ivan Mendez. He left us unexpectedly on January 10th 2025, and we are now facing the overwhelming task of bringing him home to lay him to rest.

My dad, Ivan Mendez, served proudly in the United States Army for over 20 years. Despite the trauma and hardships he endured from serving in combat zones, he remained one of the most cheerful, positive, and loving men you could ever meet. He was a devoted father to his five children and a loving husband to my mom, Karla Mendez.

Throughout his life, my dad did everything he could to defend the country he loved, as well as care for his family. He always put others first, and his strength, humor, and kindness left an impact on everyone who knew him. His passing is a tremendous loss, and we are struggling to come to terms with it.

We are now facing the challenge of getting my dad back home, as the VA has unfortunately informed us that they will not be covering the expenses for his transportation or funeral costs. In light of this, we are turning to our community for help.

We need to raise funds to cover the costs of shipping his body back home and the funeral arrangements to give him the respectful and loving farewell he deserves.
