Help Bring 2024 Copty Scholars from Palestine to Belfast
Donation protected
Four outstanding Palestinian scholars have been offered a Copty Scholarship to undertake postgraduate study at Queen's University Belfast for the coming academic year. They are
Ibrahim A. A. Aldalis
Yousef A. A. Albaba
Daniella Nassim Jabra Dukmak
Alaa I. A. Murtaja
Given the horrors of what is being perpetrated in Gaza and the West Bank, travel is extremely difficult, and the financial costs are beyond their reach. With your generosity, the Palestine Assembly at Queen's University Belfast have made excellent progress in making it possible for them to come to Belfast—persuading the university to clear some of the hurdles having to do with visa and travel requirements—but considerable challenges remain, and particularly for the two Copty recipients currently in Gaza.
We have had magnificent support from trade unions and solidarity organisations, from students and staff, and from the wider Palestine solidarity movement across Ireland, raising nearly £11000 as of the end of August. But from a fundraiser that began with the aim of supporting a single scholar—Ibrahim Aldalis—we have raised our ambitions to offer support to all four Copty scholars. We offer heartfelt thanks to all of you who have contributed so far, and ask that you urgently contact family, friends, co-workers, community organisations across Ireland and the UK to help us in reaching our goal of £20k.
