Help Bring Renee Home: A Family's Plea
Donation protected
As some of you have heard by now, Renee Brancato earned her angel wings on Friday May 17th due to complications of diabetes. Anyone who knew Renee knew how much she absolutely loved Jamaica. It was her home away from home and she looked forward to going every year. It is with tremendous sadness and immense regret that I must say it is where she spent her final moments on this earth. My name is Nicole and I am raising money on behalf of her family to bring Renee back home to America. Renee went to Jamaica on vacation for Mother’s Day, and unfortunately was not able to return home safely. Renee battled with type 1 diabetes her entire life and unfortunately, while in Jamaica she fell ill and needed to be hospitalized almost immediately upon entering the country. Renee developed ketoacidosis, pneumonia and a respiratory infection which ultimately led to her untimely passing. Renee was only 43 years old, and had so much more life to live. Renee was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and most importantly a friend to so many. She leaves behind 3 daughters, a grieving husband and a completely heartbroken family. We are currently working closely with the United States Embassy in Montego Bay, Jamaica to bring her body home so that she can be back with her family where she belongs. Because Renee was in Jamaica and didn’t have travel insurance, the cost of repatriation alone is roughly $5,000. For those of you that don’t know, that is the return of a deceased loved one from overseas. This does not include the cost of funeral expenses and arrangements. The family is asking for any assistance possible to help with the tremendous financial burden that exists to bring Renee back to the states. The family is mourning but can’t even begin the grief process until they have closure and she is able to be brought back home. We are all devastated by Renee’s untimely passing and were not prepared for the high costs involved. We want to give her the celebration of life that she deserves in honor of her memory and to say our last goodbyes. We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of her funeral/memorial services, including international transportation. Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time. I would like to thank you all in advance for the prayers and continued support.
