Help bring Riri and puppies back from Afghanistan
Donation protected
On August 26th, 2019, a pregnant Afghan Shepard wandered into the howlitzer ammo pit on a military outpost in Afghanistan. That night, she gave birth to 7 puppies who, with the help of the soldiers on base, survived malnutrition, an infection, predator threats, and temperatures ranging from 100 to 125 degrees during the day. The soldiers came together to bring Riri and her pups fresh water daily, a safe haven in one of the bunkers, and all the tuna she could eat as well as hourly check-ins to make sure she was healthy and happy. Against all odds, all seven puppies survived and today they will transported to a shelter in Kabul called Nowzad where they will stay with Riri until they’re old enough to come to the US. Transportation back to the United States is expensive and can cost up to $7,000 dollars to transport one adult dog. For puppies, transportation is $4000, however adopters are only responsible for $1000 of that total. Fundraising by the adopter and Nowzad is what ultimately brings these dogs home.
