Help bring robotics to a student in Nigeria
Donation protected
Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Nonso Nolly. i am 19 years old and I live in Nigeria. My home is in the Asaba Delta State which is located in the Southern part of my country. i go to school here in
Asaba, Delta State , the name of my school is Institute of continuing Education Asaba [I.C.E] .
In this area, it is often hard to obtain study items needed to learn things such as electronics and programming which are areas that I am working hard to learn. My passion is to work with electronic circuit creation, and programming microprocessors to make intelligent devices. Robotics is a career that I would really enjoy if I can learn the many steps involved with creating such a device. I need to learn programming, electronics, physical design, and how to integrate everything together properly.
Currently I have made progress by learning Arduino programming in the C language and have created a
model car which can use an ultra-sonic ping sensor to detect local objects. From here I was able to have the vehicle avoid objects in its path or locate an object that I have placed on the floor.
You can look at the videos I've made about some of the projects I've worked on here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXfhw0LNQBtb_k67jM2vMnQ
While I have made some great progress, I do wish to learn much more, and to reach those goals, I need the ability to create lightweight framework for my creations, a chassis for my wheeled designs, and eventually when I move into the area of drones, to make lightweight parts for them.
To do this, a 3D printer would allow me to turn what can now only be a dream into a reality. Also the a Smart laptop is needed for my 3D printing and carrying out some research, promoting my YouTube channel
will be something i would like to do, if i am able to get enough money to get a camera and some robot parts to keep build and also impact the knowledge on my friends too.
Traditionally these devices were over a thousand US dollars. ($50000) This was a goal that was totally
inconceivable for anyone in my area to even imagine. Now, only a few short years later a really well built Creality 3D printer will cost less than half of that.
Even with shipping and some basic supplies, if I can collect about $30000 US Dollars (1,252,050.00NGN) which could easily be done with the help of a few sponsors… I could actually make
this happen. This would also mean that I could help to teach several other students in my school to use this technology which could be life changing for them as well as me.
This is me teaching some of my friends how to use Arduino. I like teaching my friends and there is a group of 5 of us in my school who are interested in robotics and engineering.
I am very excited to begin this part of my journey with your kind help. Thank you very much in advance,
Nonso Nolly
This fundraiser is being managed by the team at the Behind the Bots podcast! We will be using the funds collected from this campaign to purchase Nonso the materials he needs and send them to him via DHL. Live your dreams, Nonso!
