5/7/24 Update –

The Kedar and Cullen families want to express their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love and support they have been receiving over the last couple of days. All the shared memories prayers sent from around the world has touched them deeply and is helping them more than you can imagine.

Funeral and burial services are still in process and will be shared once finalized. There will be an opportunity for those who are unable to attend in person to view the services via Zoom. More information will be available in the coming days.

The families have also set up a dedicated email address ([email redacted] ) for the purpose of disseminating the funeral arrangements and the zoom link, as well as providing an outlet for people to send their thoughts on “Who was Sam” , “Who was Suzie” and to share any memories they would like.

We are incredibly saddened and heartbroken to share the tragic loss of Sam Cullen and his soon-to-be fiancé, Suzie Kedar. Sam, 28, and Suzie, 27, were Farmingdale sweethearts and graduates (Class of 2014 & 2015), who unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 in a tragic accident in Washington state.

Sam, a US Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, was stationed in Whidbey Island, WA where he resided with Suzie. They met in Farmingdale High School, where Suzie, the wrestling team's student manager, caught Sam, a two time All County wrestler's eye. Sam and Suzie were about to be engaged and about to start the next chapter of their lives, when it was tragically cut short.

With your love and blessing, you could help bring Suzie home from Washington State to Long Island so she can be buried surrounded by her loved ones. The pain of losing a child is incomprehensible, and being distanced only exacerbates the grief. During this difficult time, Suzie should be home, alongside her family, friends and those who have stood by her endlessly. Suzie is survived by her mother, Shama Kedar and her 3 sisters, Simy, Varsha (Bharat), and Shivanie (Don). The Navy will ensure the respectful return of Sam to his family; parents Shari and Tim Cullen, and his siblings, Suzanne (Greg), Hayden (Paulina), Timothy (Samara), Emma, and Gabby.

With the help of your support, Suzie can be returned home to her family. It is the wishes of both families that they be memorialized in a combined service and laid to rest together. We will provide additional information regarding services, once they are determined.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in helping Suzie's family navigate this challenging journey of grief and mourning. Together, let's honor the memory of Sam and Suzie by offering the support and comfort their families need during this heartbreaking time.
