Help Bring Titawny Cook Home

My son, Titawny Cook (TC), with the help of the Chabot College newspaper, made the decision to travel to Ukraine and report on the war and its impact on the citizens in the capital city of Kyiv. Titawny believed that the story of suffering, devastation, and broken families should be reported and recognized. As his mother, I was happy that he had decided to follow his dream, even though I was fearful as Ukraine was so far away and unstable.
However, I have been through this before during my son’s service in the Marine Corps, fighting for his country in Iraq. He was in Kyiv for just over a year, and he was doing well making friends, engaging with the culture, learning about the different people, and hearing about the injustices of war through the eyes of many of the soldiers fighting on the front line. He posted many of these stories on Instagram to reach as many people as possible.
On Thursday, July 26, 2024, The United States Embassy in Kyiv informed me that my only son was found dead (under suspicious circumstances). twenty minutes from his apartment. I am devastated and full of loss and grief over my son’s death.
Even though he served in the military the information I am getting is they are nicely telling me that it is on me to bring him home since he was not on active duty. With Ukraine being at war with Russia their airports are closed. The only way to get Titawny home is to ground transport him to another country and then fly him from there to here. There are both political and logistical issues associated with each of these steps. Funeral costs in California are very expensive and add to this the cost of international transportation it has become very overwhelming.
I am desperately just trying to get his body back to the United States.
I need your help to do so. Please help me bring my son back home. I cannot rest until I see and touch his face to say a final goodbye.
FUNDS RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO HELP COVER THE COST OF BRINGING TITAWNY BACK TO THE UNITED STATES AND OTHER FUNERAL EXPENSES.
I, Christine Cook, thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and support in bringing my son home.
