Help bring Tomoko home to us - Her best chance of recovery

Hi! I’m Nina and I’m fundraising to bring my beautiful friend Tomoko home to her family - because love, hope and the right care can change everything!

On December 20th, my precious friend Tomoko’s life changed in a way none of us could have imagined. At just 48 years old, with a devoted husband, Gerard, and their 12-year-old son, Louis, Tomoko suffered a severe stroke that left her in a coma with bleeding on her brain.

The hospital here in Spain acted quickly, performing emergency surgery to remove part of her skull to relieve the pressure and a tracheostomy to help her breathe. In the days since, there have been many glimmers of hope – small moments that remind us Tomoko is still fighting. But the doctors remain uncertain. They’ve warned us to prepare for the worst, saying even if she wakes up, she may not respond.

We simply cannot – and will not – accept this as the end of Tomoko's story.

Tomoko is too full of love and life to give up on. She is my friend, and I miss her every day. I can’t begin to imagine how her husband, her son, and her family feel right now.

But the truth is, even in the darkest moments, hope still shines through – and we are holding on to that hope with everything we have.

Gerard has sent all of Tomoko’s medical records to Professor Jan Talar, a renowned expert in neurorehabilitation. After reviewing her case, Professor Talar believes his clinic in Poland can help bring Tomoko back to us. His Private Neurorehabilitation Center specializes in caring for patients like Tomoko – those affected by stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, and neurological motor dysfunctions. They are known for guiding coma patients towards recovery, treating each one with personalized care and unwavering belief.

Now, what we need is your help to get her there. This is a journey of almost 3000 kilometre's so it’s not to be taken lightly!

Transporting Tomoko to Poland – ideally by air – is expensive, but this is by far her best chance at survival and recovery. Of course we will need to wait until she is strong enough to move and it is safe for her to make the journey. But this treatment means hope, not just for Tomoko, but for her family. Louis needs his mom. Gerard needs his wife. And all of us need Tomoko’s kindness, laughter, and love back in our lives.

Every single donation will go towards Tomoko’s medical transport, her treatment at Professor Talar’s clinic, and supporting Gerard and Louis as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

Writing this today is breaking my heart, life can be so cruel, but I know that together, we can make a difference.
