I’m Corey, owner of The Hawkins Sound Ranch, a recording studio and creative retreat nestled on 43 acres just outside Prince George, British Columbia.

I’m also now the caretaker of something legendary:

Zappy — Frank Zappa’s original Trident 80B recording console.

This isn’t just the same model. This is his actual board—the centerpiece of his Utility Muffin Research Kitchen studio. From there, it was used on countless sessions and passed through multiple hands… until she found her way home, right here in the BC interior.

Now, I’m building a studio not just around her—but for her.

️ Why We’re Raising $5,000

Zappy is fully restored and ready to work—but she needs one last thing: custom Tuchel-to-TRS cabling to integrate with our modern Apollo interface system. These high-end looms will allow us to bring her signal path into today’s workflow—without compromising her analog magic.

The $5,000 will go directly to:

Custom cable builds + patchbay integration

Testing + install of the full system

Prepping the studio for a hybrid analog/digital workflow

Why It Matters

I’m not just building a studio. I’m creating a destination for artists—a place where songwriters and musicians can come to unplug, recharge, and record in a space built around care, craft, and creative energy.

Once Zappy is wired in, we’ll begin offering:

Retreat sessions (multi-day creative packages)

Writing camps

Analog-focused recording experiences

And eventually, residencies for emerging artists

Zappy won’t just be a relic. She’ll be part of a new chapter.
