Help Brittney Keep Her Home

Hello, my name is Brittney. I'm a single mom of 5 children. Currently, I am unable to work due to an injury to my ankle which has left me unable to walk for the past couple of months. It is still unknown when I will be able to walk again. An estimate from the doctor is 3-6 months once I start physical therapy to relearn to walk.

I have reached out and applied for assistance in every way I can think of. Most places are saying they do not have any funding or I don’t meet qualifications because I am not homeless. I am two months, almost 3 months behind in rent due to not being able to get up, walk, or even go to work. My landlord has worked with me the best she can and as of now, if I am unable to come up with past due balances and late fees, I will have to vacate the property. At that point, I will be a mom experiencing homelessness with 5 children and no where to go.

At this point, anything will help. I have always been pretty independent and not liked to ask for help but at this point, I am desperate. This is the roof over me and my children’s head and we will have no where to go. As of now, I have no income coming in and I applied for short term disability but it is a 386 application review period. I am on FMLA but due to not having any sick time from my job, I am not getting paid. The state denied me for cash assistance. I have literally applied for everything under the sun that I can think of.
