Help for Lori & Bill

My name is Karen, I am reaching out on behalf of my mom, Lori, and Step Dad, Bill. On Friday night, they got home from the wedding rehearsal for the wedding they were in this weekend, and found their basement flooded. With the recent rain, the older foundation of their home couldn't keep up and started to crack, letting water in from several places. Because it wasn't a sump pump failure and an "Act of God" per insurance, they have no coverage. We have had a water mitigation company out to evaluate and the current estimate to remove the carpet, cut the wet parts of the sheet rock out, and dry the basement with several fans and dehumidifiers is $5000-7000. That number could go up with the current rain continuing to cause damage.

As some of you know, Bill was diagnosed with Dementia and had to retire earlier than he had planned to. Things have been very rough for him and my mom as they've tried to navigate this new phase of life. Because Bill retired early, he has not been able to take out his pension yet and money has been extremely tight for them.

I am hoping we can help lessen the financial burden to save their basement so they can focus on going through their items and replacing what can't be saved.
