Help Brooke and Moo's Safe Journey Home

Hi. I'm Brooke Brody.

I moved to Colorado with my partner almost 10 years ago with my ESA and best friend that I call Moo. I've had him since he was weaned. He'll be 12 this July. That's him in the cover photo.

He has tumors and has had surgery to remove some of them.

This story is about commitment and love for a being that supports you back.

Unfortunately, the relationship with my ex-partner had put myself and Moo in a domestic violence situation; which I remained in for a lack of better options. For 10 years, I couldn't find a place that accepts Moo.

I've worked with the local agencies for years, now and am finally free of the violent relationship but am now experiencing homelessness, disabled and stuck in the San Luis Valley with a car that won't get much further.

I need to get back to Michigan, where my family lives. I've been on a housing list for my tribe. That accepts my Moo, as well!!!

My problem becomes: MY car won't make 1700 miles back home where plenty of resources are waiting. I can't fly due to a medical condition. My Moo isn't welcome on Buses or Trains. I can't rent due to a small debt left behind from my past relationship struggles.

I need enough to procure a reliable used vehicle to drive myself and Moo to Michigan. I am almost 50 and on a fixed income and disabled. I volunteer at my local no-kill animal shelter, San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society.

I just want to go home to my family, a grandson I need to meet and a stable home with resources that can help.

If you find it in your heart and are able; any help is most appreciated. I'd consider myself truly blessed to accomplish this goal! I need to get home ASAP as my name should be coming up soon for my housing!
