Brooklyn (now Sunshine's) Mass Removals

Donation protected
Hi Friends and Neighbors, Many of you may already know Brooklyn's story but for those who don't, she was adopted from Downey Animal Care and Control by a new rescue in Southern California at the end of April. Brooklyn is a sweet and gentle 8 year-old senior who has had a difficult life. Unfortunately, her difficulties did not end when she left the shelter. Brooklyn was sent to a boarding facility in May run by a kind gentleman out in the Yucca Valley desert. While there, the owner of her rescue sent a message to the director telling him to take Brooklyn back to the shelter. Horrified, the director promptly ignored the request and has been keeping and caring for Brooklyn all of this time by himself. It was well documented in Brooklyn's shelter medical records (and is obvious from the attached photos) that Brooklyn has a large mass on her tail and also on her foot. Her rescue collected pledges for her care to contribute towards surgeries that Brooklyn would need to remove these masses. From the vet records, its clear that Brooklyn was taken to the vet for a 15-minute exam costing $75 but no biopsies were done on the masses. The mass on her foot appears to be growing and causing her some discomfort and she needs to be taken to the vet for a full work-up as soon as possible as well as biopsies to prepare her for surgery. And now for the silver lining in Brooklyn's story- a very kind woman in Ohio named Kim recently saw a Tik Tok made for Brooklyn and fell head over heels in love with her. She has always had a heart for seniors and since she somewhat recently lost her elderly pup, Kim and her husband want to give Brooklyn the loving home she's always deserved. They have renamed Brooklyn Sunshine, as she reminds them of a sunny day. I'm also including a photo of the precious sign that Kim had made for Sunshine that is currently sitting on their fireplace. It's just so sweet! Kim and her husband have been providing for all of Sunshine's treats and food. Sunshine's expenses for her surgery are somewhat unknown at the moment. The director of the boarding facility is making her an appointment to go see the vet and have her lumps biopsied. We won't know further costs associated with the surgeries until that happens. She will likely have the first vet visit here in Southern California and the surgeries themselves in Ohio so that she can recover in the comfort of her new home. Sunshine also has an $1,100 outstanding bill to the kind boarding facility director that we would like to make sure he is compensated for and approximately $700 for transport to live with Kim and her husband in Ohio. We are setting the GoFundme at $3,800 with hope that that should substantially cover Sunshine's way home. Please donate to Sunshine so that she can get the necessary medical care she needs and to travel to her new home in Ohio with her forever pawrents! All donations made to this fundraiser are made for the benefit of Kim and will be transferred directly to her and the boarding director.
