Help Bruce Cushman Rebuild After House Fire

Hi, my name is Bruce Cushman and I'm fundraising money to help repair my home after experiencing a rather devastating house fire, accidentally started by my roommate. At the time of the fire I didn't have any fire insurance. I was at the tail end of a long drawn out home remodel and due to the condition of the house I needed to complete a few more tasks before I was able to have an insurance agent inspect the house for a quote. Unfortunately, the fire interrupted my efforts. The timing of the fire was tragic as I was on the verge of finishing my 12 year remodel from hell, this summer. My home means everything to me and has been the focus of my efforts for many years. I was very much looking forward to completing the remodel this summer so I could finally enjoy my final years of retirement and maybe have some fun for a change.

I live on a fairly meger social security income of just under $1100/mo with an additional $540/mo rental income from Richard, my roommate. While the damage from the fire is fairly significant, it is a manageable setback, as I do most of the work myself. I mostly need the money for several new windows, some sheetrock, insulation and dump expenses to haul away the fire debris. Most of the damage was smoke and water related with little structural damage. A lot of my remodeling materials were stored in my attic and everything in the attic was completely destroyed.

Rich and I are sticking it out and will continue to reside in the house but we need to commence rebuilding as soon as possible. The entire interior of the house needs to be cleaned of smoke damage and repainted and most all of the ceilings need to be replaced, due to the water damage inflicted by the local fire department. Any donations are welcome and will be put to good use over this summer to put my home back in good order.
