Help Bruce Pyne Pay His Medical Bills- WORD WIZARD

Donation protected
For more than 13 years, Bruce Pyne (known to some as WORD WIZARD) used his car six days a week to deliver copies of The Patriot Ledger in six towns, most recently in Braintree and Holbrook.

On June 26th, 2020, an unexpected blackout caused him to crash into an iron railing.  He was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital, where he spent eight days.  He was then transferred to Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital in Braintree where he spent another 12 days.  Bruce had suffered a fractured left kneecap, which took 10 weeks to heal.

Due to the nature of the accident, Bruce is prohibited by state law from driving until at least December 26th.  Both airbags deployed, his Honda was totaled, and his license expired on his birthday this past September.  Right now, he relies on senior van trips for errands and shopping and occasional pickups by Dial-a-Bat for trips to Compass Medical.  He uses Bill's Taxi Service once per month to take him to a laundromat in Bridgewater.

Please help Bruce pay his Medical Bills by making a donation to his GoFundMe by Tuesday, December 1st.

On October 8th, while  waiting for the Dial-a-Bat bus, he developed SVT (rapid heartbeat) and was transported by ambulance to Brockton Hospital, where he was monitored for six hours.  Today, Bruce is taking some new medications daily, but otherwise is fine.

However, as he is out of work, he now has about one third of the income he had five months ago.   He longs for the tips he used to get, which averaged well in excess of $1,000 each month.  About 75% of his current income is from Social Security.  Rent, storage fees, Verizon, and food consume nearly all of this, leaving essentially nothing to pay the bills that are not covered by Medicare.  His current unpaid medical bills total more than double his current monthly income.   Bruce has already paid several of the smaller bills under $100, but has many outstanding invoices and expects more bills to come.

He says that, “When your outgo exceeds your income, your upkeep becomes your downfall.”   He is dismayed at how quickly he drew down his savings account from more than $8,000 to less than $200 since coming back home from Braintree in mid-July.   Bruce must  be very careful with his spending and is saddened by being financially unable to donate to his two favorite charities, The Salvation Army and The Red Cross, both of which have helped him in the past.

Please help Bruce pay his Medical Bills by making a donation to his GoFundMe by Tuesday, December 1st.  He will be eternally humbled and grateful.

In spite of his situation and looming medical expenses, Bruce retains a positive outlook and sense of humor.   When he's not solving cryptograms, you'll find him outside doing yard work, which he thoroughly enjoys.  And he notes that when he gets no mail, he gets no bills!
