Bryzon's Spinal Cord Injury Recovery
Donation protected
On Friday July 12, Bryzon sustained a C5 incomplete spinal cord injury after a diving accident while on a family vacation in Bemidji. He was life flighted to Fargo where he underwent extensive surgery to remove the broken bones and stabilize his spine. Surgery was long but went well and he is now in the PICU at Sanford in Fargo, beginning his long road to recovery. His healing process was complicated by a collapsed lung and aspiration pneumonia from inhalation of the lake water. However, with intervention, his lungs are improving quickly. He is still currently on a ventilator to help him breath, so he is not able to talk. He’s doing a great job communicating other ways and is staying strong!! Everything is on track with the healing of his spine. Currently they are unable to determine the level of impairment, as he is in the very early stages of recovery. With lots of support, prayers, love, encouragement and rehab, we are optimistic he will have a favorable recovery. Bryzon continues to show strength, strong willpower, courage, determination and a kick ass attitude. Despite this tragic situation, he has managed to maintain his sense of humor. We’ve had some smiles and laughs, which make the days seem so much brighter! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come. He needs all the positive healing energy he can get!
