Help Buba build an education center in Gambia
Donation protected
Update: with the GoFundMe struggling we have lowered the goal. The $3000 minus $145 already given to the family so they can eat for the month.
Buba is struggling to decide to try to move back to Gambia but is not sure he has the money to establish a safe environment for him and his family. With the $3,000 minis the support already given , he can get a house for his family or might be able to return. If not he would then try and get to Europe to get a job as a refugee to make enough money to support his family in Gambia.
Hi, my name is Jeremy and I am fundraising to help Buba, an African refugee to return to his home country of Gambia to build an education center and Internet cafe in his home country of Gambia.
I met Buba through my wife and her friends. I have been inspired by his drive to create a better life and he has shown that no matter the hand that you are given, no matter how stacked the odds are against you, to never give up and keep fighting for your dreams. As an engineer it breaks my heart to see how many people are left behind as the strong thrive. As a care provider, it hurts knowing that I can only help so much. As an instructor, I hope to be able to work with Buba and realize his dreams of teaching the youth of his area to provide a better future for his community. We all have struggled at one point or another, but the shear drive of this individual has really shown me how having dreams can allow you to continue to fight, no matter how slim the chances are. I hope that his story inspires you to take stock of your life and realize that no matter how hard life seems, with proper support and asking for help when you need it, you can achieve your dreams as well.
A message from Bubacarr;
Hello everyone,
I am Bubacarr Barry, a young man from Gambia currently living in Tunisia as a refugee / immigrant. I am writing to you with a heavy heart and a plea for your help. My family and I are faced with with a lot of challenges, we use to fetch firewood from the forest and sell it to make ends meet, but then the government made it illegal to collect firewood. If the government catches you, you end up in jail. My siblings were forced to drop out of school because our income did not provide for our basic needs, let alone pay for our house rent. I managed to complete my high school education and after I met Jill, Tana and Melissa. With their help I was able to support my family and was able to take Information Communication Technology classes (ITC) from basic to diploma level and was able to get all the certifications. They helped with house rent, food and to send my siblings back to school. Jill is older and no longer working, Melissa is fighting cancer and things are slow with Tana, who has 5 kids and has been helping when she can. My siblings have had to drop out of school and struggling in getting food for one meal a day. It has been difficult and they have been evicted by our previous landlords. I have been arrested several times because I am the first born. I worked at one local computer shop for 10 years. I learned to do a lot with computers including; typing, photocopying, scanning, designing certificates, business logos etc. but I don’t get paid. I have written many applications but have not gotten any jobs and don’t have the support to start my own printing and stationary shop. I decided to leave my country to go to Senegal where I started my journey as an immigrant. I then moved to Mauritania and now I am in Tunisia. I have been trying to get to Europe to have a better life and support my family, but I am poor and without support. I am left to ask for others as I have been struggling in Tunisia. With your donation I plan to return to Gambia and start a company that teaches the youth the skills I have learned. I hope to get a place for my family so they are no longer homeless or living in a small 2 room place that floods during the rainy season.
I humbly am asking for your help so I can achieve my dreams of having a better life and be able to support my family. I have no other means besides the charity of others and nowhere else to go. Any amount you can donate, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in our lives and will help me stand on my own two feet.
Over the past I have been given help to gain computer skills that I would like to teach to people in Gambia so we can rise up together. I have been struggling with the current conditions of Africa and hope with some support I am able to provide for my family and to help the youth in my area.
I know we are all struggling, but any amount of financial support you could offer would go a long way. Your kindness and generosity would help me during this difficult time.
I appreciate any assistance you can provide.
Thanks,
Buba
The goal of $3,000 will help Buba either get back to Gambia and will allow him to begin working on creating his dream. It would allow him to secure a place to live for his family and he can begin working on creating an education center and Internet cafe. Any additional money raised will go towards securing a location for his business an education center. He will be able to continue to support his community as he has in the past. My dream for Buba is to build a sustainable business that is able to expand into more than just teaching computers. I hope to help him for years to come with establishing sustainable gardening and livestock to provide for his community. To replant trees in his area to help during the rainy season so there isn’t flooding and washing away the soil. To build a school where the youth can learn the skills to thrive in this world. It is a large dream of mine to help give back to someone that has inspired me.
This dream is larger than I can do myself, larger than Buba and I can do together. My hope is that in reading this story, you are inspired by Buba as I was and can help in any way you can.
Thank you for your time and any support you are able to give.

I hope that this is something people will help with. For just $2,285 he could rent a place that is largest enough for his family, then he would work on improving his area and struggle to get something going.
I am willing to help an any way that I can. I can offer tutoring in Science, Math and build lesson plans for Science Technology Robotics, Engineering, Art and Math for people that would like to donate. Services include test prep for math, chemistry and physics for free if you donate. I am also building activities that can be used to teach the youth about robotics and computer building. I also am willing to sell my stuff for contributions to this GoFindMe.
Looking to set up a fundraising event locally in Evanston Illinois to sell some of my stuff (I am only taking donations for this GoFundMe). This will also be up online or near parks in South Evanston with the things I can am offering to help him. This includes tutoring packages for tutoring packages in exchange for donations.
For more information on the fund raiser visit amazingsadie6 on Instagram to see goods and services that can be available to exchange for donations.
Please, anything helps to get to this goal.
If more money is made, or donations of older technology are given, this can be bundled and shipped to Gambia to help set up the education center. Anything at all helps.
Please spread this to family and friends. Even small donations help reach the goal. Any money raise over the $3,000 would used to soeed up Bubas chances of teaching the youth in Gambia the skills he has learned so they have more skills and don’t have to be in his situation.
Again, thank you for your time.
