Help Buggy Survive & See Life's Worth Living

To friends, family, and those I’ve not met my name is Kristy and I have created this fundraiser for my daughter who in this space I will affectionately call Buggy to protect her. Those of you who know us know her name and I would ask that it continue to be protected.

2.5 years ago our family went through something I hope no family ever has to. It was only after being hospitalized for a suicidal attempt at the age of 13 it came out that my daughter had been being abused for years in many and some of the worst ways by her step-father. She was threatened and manipulated into never saying a word to anyone for fear she would destroy her family. Upon hearing what she went through I immediately started working on getting services in place for her to help undo the years of trauma she went through. In addition, I got divorced, sold our home, and moved my little family across the country to protect and get her away from her abuser.

Over these past few years, despite the smiles she gives at times, the pain of this trauma has deeply impacted her and continues to on a daily basis. Despite getting counseling once a week, meds to help the depression and anxiety, therapy groups, check-ins from providers in our home, Intensive Outpatient Therapy, Partial Hospitalization Programs, Short Term Residential, and at the time of writing this 6 hospitalizations for suicidal attempts along with at least 20 more I could not afford to take her in for and instead had to keep her with me 24/7, she continues to be overwhelmed with depression, anxiety, and thoughts of not wanting to be here. While the system has failed her, never even approaching or arresting her abuser. I continue to fight on a daily basis to keep my daughter alive.

I have up until this point been able to pay for all medical expenses on my own. We have done everything everyone has asked of us with the exception of one last hope. All of her current providers have stated she needs to be in a long-term 9-12 month Residential Therapy Program where she can get multiple therapies a day 5-7days per week with 24-hour care in hope that we can pull her through this. Unfortunately, this is something our insurance will not cover and it runs $15,000-$20,000 per month. I am a single working mom and do not have the ability to cover such an expense on my own. I am pleading that even if you can only give a dollar or all you can do is share our story please do.

The immense amount of gratitude I have for any contribution you can make is beyond words, as the life of my child is priceless. I will forever appreciate any help we can get. This is the last hope I have at trying to get my daughter the help she deserves before she ends her own life and the world no longer gets to be graced by her beautiful blue eyes and warm smile.
