Help Build a Better Atuitui Primary School

Donation protected
My Name is David Imukat. I am an Old boy of Atuitui primary school - Whose profile is indicated below:

INTERVENTION TO ATUITUI PRIMARY SCHOOL, ONGINO TOWN COUNCIL, KUMI DISTRICT, UGANDA, EAST AFRICA.
Atuitui Primary school is a catholic church founded and government supported; founded in 1933 by the Mill hill Fathers. It has an enrolment of 1,204 children with a teaching staff of 17 teachers; 5 teachers less than the recommended number. The low number of teachers is occasioned by the lack of accommodation in the school. Currently, only 5 teachers of the 17 are accommodated by the school and the rest have to find accommodation elsewhere. The recommended number of children by teacher is 55 however in Atuitui primary school, there are between 103-110 children per teacher which is overwhelming. It is hoped that when the issue of teachers accommodation is addressed, the number of pupils per teacher will drop to about 55, allowing the teachers to give more attention to all the children since the number of teachers is expected to increase, with increased decent accommodation.
The Rotary E-club of Victoria D9214 in partnership with the Rotary club of Kumi D9213 conducted a comprehensive needs assessment at the school where we met with the school Administration, school management committee, parents/teachers’ association, parents of the school, old pupils and the community of Atuitui to identify and prioritise interventions in the school to make it a better learning environment for the learners. The following issues were identified as needing critical interventions as a matter of emergency;
1. Construction of Teachers' accommodation
2. Construction of dormitories for children who walk very long distance and others who have to cross the lake to get to school
3. A kitchen - currently children’s meals are cooked within the compound in an open space. When it rains the children eat very late
4. Construction of a library to promote a reading culture and ICT
5. Construction of well-planned classrooms to accommodate all children
6. Construction of a health facility for the children especially those in boarding school
7. Construction of an administration block
8. Construction of a fence to secure the children and the school property
The Rotary E-club of Victoria in partnership with the Rotary club of Kumi, the administration of Atuitui Primary school, the school management committee of Atuitui Primary school, the Parents/Teachers Association of Atuitui Primary school and the old pupils of Atuitui Primary school have signed an MOU to construct the teacher’s accommodation as a priority and other interventions will come later. To this effect, the community of Atuitui together with the school administration, school management committee, PTA and the old pupils will provide bricks, sand, marram, gravel and big stones (Hard Core) while the rest of the materials will be provided by the two Rotary clubs in collaboration with corporate partners.
