Help Build a Mosque in Memory of My Grandmother
Donation protected
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un – “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return.” (Qur’an 2:156)
I am raising funds to build a mosque in memory of my beloved grandmother—a woman who was not only a source of love and kindness in my life but also a pillar of strength in our family. She passed away from undiagnosed brain cancer in findland, unaware of her condition until it was too late. Like many in the Somali community, she did not have access to early detection, proper medical care, or the knowledge to recognise the signs of this devastating disease.
Despite the pain she endured, she was blessed to spend her final month in her homeland, Somalia, and was laid to rest in the land she loved—just as she had wished.
A Grandmother’s Love That Will Never Be Forgotten
My grandmother was more than just a relative—she was my second mother, my caretaker, my source of laughter and warmth. She had a heart full of love, always looking after me and my siblings, making sure we were happy, well-fed, and safe. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special, whether it was through her kind words, her gentle hands, or the way she would smile and joke to brighten up our days.
She loved going on walks, enjoying the simple beauty of the world around her, and always carried an unshakable strength and patience. No matter what she faced in life, she carried herself with grace, never letting hardship take away her warmth.
I owe it to her to build this mosque.
Why This Fundraiser Matters
This campaign serves two deeply important purposes:
1. Building a Mosque in Her Honour – A place of worship that will serve as a house of prayer and community, becoming a source of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) for her. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim 1631)
By building this mosque, every prayer, every word of Qur’an recited, and every act of worship within its walls will be a blessing for her in the Hereafter.
2. Raising Cancer Awareness in the Somali Community – Many people in Somalia and within the Somali diaspora do not have access to cancer screenings or the awareness to seek medical help in time. Early detection can save lives, yet so many suffer in silence until it is too late. Our goal is to educate and spread knowledge, so fewer families experience the heartbreak of losing loved ones too soon.
How You Can Help
By contributing to this cause, you are not only helping to establish a house of worship but also supporting a movement to ensure that more people recognise the signs of cancer and seek medical help before it is too late. Even the smallest donation will help bring this vision to life.
May Allah accept this as Sadaqah Jariyah for my grandmother and for everyone who donates. May He grant her and all those who have passed away Jannatul Firdaus, forgive their sins, and ease the suffering of those still fighting illness.
Jazakum Allahu Khayran – May Allah reward you for your kindness and generosity.
