Help build Europe's first Uyghur Mosque & Educational Centre

Who are the Uyghurs?

The Uyghurs are the largest minority ethnic group in north-west China.

China has imprisoned more than one million Uyghurs and other Muslims, including ethnic Kazakhs and Uzbeks against their will since 2017, sentencing thousands to prison terms and forced labour, banning Islamic practice as well as destroying mosques.

Outside of the camps, the eleven million Uyghurs living in the region, have continued to suffer from a decades-long crackdown by local authorities.

Uyghur Mosque, Cultural and Educational Centre

We are raising money in aid of IZQILAR charity to support them in establishing Europe's first Uyghur Mosque, Cultural and Educational Centre, and fulfil the needs of the community.

Alhamdulilah the charity have acquired a beautiful freehold building located in North London, with great potential and hope to be the heart of the local community. The former church is approximately 8,000 sqft on a self-contained site of 0.29 acres with existing use Class F1.

Your contributions will help transform a historic site into a vibrant center for worship, education, and community services. Together, we can create a space that nurtures faith, heritage, and unity.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to bring the Mosque to a satisfactory standard to enable us to facilitate the services we wish to offer, however in the short term as we enter the Winter season, we have urgent needs to provide basic access to the Mosque and daily prayers.

On raising funds we will initially carry out the below to make the Mosque functional:

- Heating system for the main prayer area and learning facilities

- Install new carpets throughout

- Refurbish toilets and wudhoo area

- Minbar and Mihrab furnishing

- General decorating/refurbishment

What the new Mosque/Education Centre will offer:

Daily Prayer

Our mosque will offer a serene and sacred space for daily prayers, fostering spiritual growth and Jamaah bonding.

Medrese

Our educational programs will focus on traditional Islamic studies, helping students deepen their understanding of the Islam.

Nikah & Ceremony

Our mosque will be an ideal venue for Nikah and other religious ceremonies, blending tradition with a supportive community environment.

Hajj and Umrah

Embark on Hajj and Umrah with our comprehensive services to ensure a fulfilling and meaningful pilgrimage experience.

Uyghur Language Education

Preserve and promote the Uyghur language with our dedicated educational programs for our heritage continues to thrive.

Funeral Service

We will provide comprehensive funeral services, ensuring that every aspect is handled with care and according to Islamic traditions.

An ongoing donation for masjid means continual rewards in this life and the hereafter and makes an excellent form of Sadaqah Jariyah. Imagine being rewarded for every Sujood that takes place in the masjid... Imagine the reward for every letter of the Quran that’s learnt and recited - what an incredible blessing!

‘Indeed, those men and women who give in charity and lend to Allah a good loan will have it multiplied for them, and they will have an honourable reward.’
