Help Build Iola's Community Accessible Glassblowing Studio!
Donation protected
3 years ago I purchased a building in Iola, WI with the goal of creating a Community Accessible Glassblowing Studio. The big idea is to add to the culture of the area by offering glassblowing classes and studio rental. This is my second glassblowing studio.
Since the purchase of the Iola building, I began by creating and operating a glass art gallery, music venue, and coffee shop out of the front of the building. It is called LittleWolf Gallery.
I also remodeled various parts of the building. This year, with the help of a couple great local folks, I have successfully purchased all the equipment necessary for the glass shop from a retired glassblower friend in Madison.

I have put all my personal resources into this venture, using savings / retirement funds, selling a business, and obtaining a small business loan. It's been a fun and long road to get this far and I've met a lot of great folks along the way. As mentioned, I would not have made it this far if it were not for the community (who has supported me in many ways). The purchase of the glass shop equipment got me 90% of the way there. The challenge ahead is startup funding for the glassblowing shop.
Because the community has expressed interest in classes and studio rental, as well as the desire to just plain help out, I thought I'd try this crowd funding thing to help things move along with this "final piece to the puzzle".
This final piece, will help fund the following:
- Electrical Infrastructure upgrade (320A panel)
- Ventilation (hood) Installation
- Fire-rated (indoor) siding
- Metal working tools (welder and misc.)
- Furnace build completion
- Startup consumables (glass batch, etc)
- Misc (blower/s, castable, hardware)
The items above are estimated at around $10,000, but with your help, I believe I can get there with a fund-raising total of $5,500.
If you are interested in seeing a community glass shop in Iola, please consider helping out (with any amount). Your donation will greatly speed-along this project. My goal with your help is to not forget about it! Whether it be discounts on classes or studio rentals, or gifting handmade glass (glasses, vases, etc), or simply a public mention of thanks, I would like to return your donation in the best way that I am able to match it. It may take some time, but I will not forget about you and your gift.
Thank you for your consideration! - Donovan
