Help Build Margaret Abu Women’s Center in Abomosu, Ghana
Donation protected
Many older women in and around Abomosu quietly die away with beautiful and inspiring yet untold stories. They lack opportunities for any form of entertainment and are mostly seen gathering for church or funeral services. We want to change this and help Margaret realize her dream of mobilizing these women for a good course. We want not only for Margaret’s stories to be told and remembered, but the women of my own and the surrounding villages.
To honor the great work Margaret has done, we have commenced the construction of the Margaret Ofosuah Abu Women’s Center where the stories of older women will be told and recorded, younger ladies can be mentored, and all women can gather to socialize, educate, uplift and inspire one another. It will also serve as a center for great family history and genealogy work, including documenting the history of the people and the town of Abomosu. This shall be opened to all people irrespective of tribal, ethnic or religious affiliations.
On her 75th birthday, we gathered on the 12-acre plot of land which had previously been reclaimed from the destruction by illegal gold miners, to officially break the grounds for work to start. Our dear sister, Wendy Hyde, and her family provided the financial support for the land reclaim as well as rendering of the architectural drawings. Other friends continue to support Wendy’s efforts with the hope that we can complete the project and have it dedicated in August 2024.).
We invite your support for this great initiative and say “Akwaaba” (Welcome) as we hope you will also consider visiting the completed project and weaving your own life stories with ours.
