Help Build Our Chapel
Tax deductible
Here at the Hermitage of Saint Cornelius, we have been have worshipping in an extremely small space. As more seekers of the monastic life, local people, and pilgrims come for spiritual care, there is no space for anyone to worship.
We have the architectural plans completed through a friend of the Hermitage, an adobe machine, three paid workers, and all necessary equipment, but we need your help financially to buy rebar, portland cement, and the roofing structure.
We have over 4,000 adobe blocks already made and 10 tons of stone for the footers. The chapel which the architect designed is 50 feet by 20 feet, the ceiling is 20 feet high, and the walls are 2 feet thick and reinforced with rebar. It is in the traditional form of a New Mexican adobe church.
Your help and your gift to see this project through will give glory to God and his Holy Orthodox Faith and the chapel's patron, Saint George the Great Martyr. It will be a shrine in the wilderness where people can commune with God and each-other, and enjoy the restoration of a wilderness desert environment.
