Help Build a School in Remote Papua New Guinea

Donation protected
WHO : The hopes and dreams of hundreds of children (some of them orphans) to access education will be realised if a school is built closer to home. Poor in material possessions, these happy and humble people are very rich in community spirits and empathy.

WHAT : The building of a school in a remote coastal village in Papua New Guinea. Construct classrooms and train new teachers to educate children from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

WHERE : Located on the tropical East coastline is Kilalum Village, Wide Bay, East Pomio, Papua New Guinea. The only way in and out of Kilalum village is by sea, many traveling via banana boat.

WHEN : Construction of permanent building works are planned to start March 2021. With plans to add year levels in increments as the school develops, train teachers, and fully complete the building of the school, development will be stretched out a number of years-
i)        March 2021             Kindergarten to Grade 3
ii)      2025-2030                Grade 4-6
iii)     2030-2035                Year 7-10
iv)     2035-2045                Year 11-12

WHY : My father, as a little boy growing up in the village, has witnessed many hardships from his own parents and elders, the main one being education. His education was financed through my grandmother collecting empty soft-drink bottles along the streets of Rabaul; he was the fortunate one then. Other village members depend on their parents growing coconuts and cocoa to sell, so they can send their children to a school 6 hours away via boat. These families do not have an income and only live off the land, therefore building a school in the village will be a dream come true for many families.
