Help Burby as she battles cancer.

Donation protected
Hello Team! You are reading this because we are getting the squad together to support our captain and teammate Amanda Burby as she is battling cancer.
Amanda was proactive in discovering that she had the gene for breast cancer. She was diligent in her screenings and unfortunately, as so many in her family had experienced before her, she was diagnosed with breast cancer this past summer.
Her first surgery was in September, for which she was granted 12 weeks of family medical leave. Her second surgery was in October to strip her lymph nodes as the margins were not clear. Her reconstruction (third surgery) was put on hold because of the immediate need for chemotherapy.
As she has been undergoing chemo, Amanda's longer-term FLM has been denied multiple times. As the chemo does it job, it is really doing a number on Burby's bloodwork and she unable to work due to illness and side effects. It has been a rough go for Burby and she has had to post-pone a treatment so she could build strength and fight. She is back on track and continues to give it her all in order to get the necessary treatments in the timeframe they were hoping. She is a tough, but needs our help. She is in danger of losing her job if she can not return by a certain date. Additionally, she is in danger of losing her home. Amanda was hoping to drive for Uber or Lyft but she is so immunocompromised, it is just too risky.
We have looked into and filed for assistance for medical bills and living expense support, but it will take some time and there are limited funds available.
We are asking you to consider helping give financial support and offer emotional support through social media, texts, and videos.
We will have a sticker and t-shirts campaign which will have all proceeds go to supporting Burby and we are open to ideas and resources you may know about which could be helpful to Amanda's struggle. Our thought is to have stickers on water bottles, computers, phones, etc. or wear t-shirts and share pictures as you adventure through life and offer a funny joke, memory, picture or a simple "I'm thinking of you." This will be an easy way to communicate without having to come up with "the right thing to say."
Honestly, as you may have guessed, this wasn't her idea. Burby is the one to help others, not ask for or need help, but we have explained that this is an opportunity to accept love and care from those she has had a positive influence on throughout her life. We really appreciate your generosity and positivity in her direction.
