Help buy Mrs. Dittamo a New Sewing Machine

Hi. We are fundraising to purchase a new sewing machine for Mrs. Theresa Dittamo, mother of late MPD 7D Officer Paul Dittamo.

 

Many of us remember that day in 2010 when Officer Paul Dittamo tragically lost his life in the Line-of-Duty while responding to a call to help someone else. [EOW 10-30-2010]. Ever since this horrible day, Paul's parents Hector & Theresa have became a permeant fixture in our lives, and surrogate parents to many of us here in the MPD Family.

 

Over the years, Theresa has used her passion for sewing to hand make and donate stuffed Holiday Teddy Bears year-round to MPD's various units to distribute to children in crisis within our Communities. Theresa has made hundreds and hundreds of Teddy Bears over the years and has helped children's all over the DMV with her simple, but heartfelt acts of kindness. Many who know her well would also suggest, that this also acts as a form of therapy for Mrs. Dittamo.

 

***Call to Action: This year, Theresa produced her assumedly last batch of Teddy Bears to MPD as her sewing machine of 25 years has now broke and is unable to be fixed. Please help donate to this worthy cause of replacing Mrs. Dittamo' s Sewing Machine so that she may continue making her Teddy Bears to help so many more, and allow her to continue sewing in honor of Paul.

 

Sergeant Anthony Walsh (6D/Family Support Team) and I have located a local sewing Shop in Alexandria Virginia that is willing to sell us the same model of Sewing Machine that Mrs. Dittamo has now and loves; only new. The cost is $1,060.00 + tax. Help us raise $1000 towards this awesome cause and lets give this great mother a gift that she will never forget.

Any extra money raised will be used to buy a gift card for Mrs. Dittamo to buy fabric and supplies.
