Help Buy Portable Toilets for Earthquake Victims!

Hi everyone, my name is Eren Aksu and I'm raising funds to help provide portable toilets to those in need across the 10 cities that have been decimated by the 2 large earthquakes that recently happened in Turkey.

We have been incredibly grateful that the world has been donating clothes, tents, blankets, and food but one thing that hasn't been addressed is currently bathrooms/toilets for those in need. With thousands of buildings destroyed and tens of thousands displaced, and with so many without a home - the disaster areas are slowly becoming open to disease due to people not having anywhere to go.

After seeing this across multiple news channels and confirming the information from boots on the ground as one of the most pressing issues, I decided to do something about it and bought 5 large porta-potties out of pocket and with the help of the Turkish Consulate and Turkish Airlines in LA, we shipped these out to Turkey within a couple of days of the earthquakes.

However, this was only a drop in the bucket. I'm now hoping to activate the international community to help support getting these areas portable small toilets at scale so that we can help the families in need have a hygienic option to dispose of their most natural needs.

I can currently get my hands on and have agreed with the manufacturer to purchase 600 units (the maximum amount they have) in stock to be purchased for those in need. The manufacturer is donating hand wipes and garbage bags so that the waste can be disposed of cleanly.

I have also gotten an approved order for 150 porta-potties to be shipped from LA from one of the largest manufacturers in the US, and am working directly with the Turkish Consulate to ship the larger Porta-potties that are even more effective (10-15 persons can use each one and they can be used ~400 times or so before needing a vacuum truck). Currently, vendors are charging double prices for these in Turkey (between ~900 USD and ~1325 USD), whereas I can get them for 604 USD per porta-potty when ordered in volume. These will then be shipped on the same day via Turkish Airlines to the frontlines.

I will also organize shipping with trucks for the smaller toilets from the manufacturer to the areas in need, collaborating with organizations such as Ahbap, Afad and regular generous citizens who are playing coordinator roles to try and help solve the issue. We already have a 7-person international team that is fully dedicated to solving this problem with folks from places like California, Texas, UK, Turkey working with multiple groups directly onsite.

This is one of the most pressing issues on the ground. If we don't solve it together, there is very limited action currently being taken about it. We could easily stop preventable diseases from spreading in these communities and stop further needless death in so many families.
