Help Triplegic Firefighter Mark Buy New Wheelchair

Donation protected
Help buy Mark Stockbrocks, a Triplegic Firefighter, a new wheelchair!

This GoFundMe has been created to buy Mark, a local Vancouver actor and accessiblity advocate, a Permobil VS (Vertical Standing) wheelchair, which costs upwards of $75,000 (updated from previous cost of 55k after a new quote in March 2023). Mark's current wheelchair is unreliable and has left him bed-ridden multiple times this year alone - having a suitable wheelchair to meet Mark's physical needs would allow him to continue his mission in life: to influence positive and tangible improvements to wheelchair accessibility worldwide.

Mark's story:

After returning from teaching in Japan for 7 years, Mark Stockbrocks graduated from firefighter training with the Métis Nation of BC. He was invited to the Chief Training Officer's Station in Alberta, but unfortunately never made it there.

Instead of training at his new hall for his dream career, Mark was fighting for his life in a coma after suffering a congenital massive brain aneurysm stroke, which rendered him permanently triplegic with both legs and his left arm paralyzed for life.

Mark independently funds and operates his own nonprofit organization that advocates for improvement of wheelchair accessibility worldwide, and increased awareness to the tribulations of people with mobility challenges. His awareness campaign has created sweeping upgrades to wheelchair accessibility at countless locations throughout Vancouver, BC, and has a goal to spread his message globally. If you'd like to see more about Mark's non-profit and follow his journey, please follow him on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/all.access.pass/

Since this fundraiser began, we (Ignite Artists Team - http://www.igniteartists.ca/vancouver-talent-agency) have become aware of several more actors in Vancouver with wheelchairs that also struggle with accessibility on sets and even being able to get to Film/TV studios when they do book a role in a safe vehicle.

If the $40,000 goal to get Mark a new wheelchair is surpassed, the additional funds will go to purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle & driver for all actors with disabilities to get to and from auditions and film sets so they too may live the life of their dreams!
