Help Caddy Thor Dogo and family recover

Hi, I'm Courtney. I'm owner of Peaceful Pets ATL.
I'm a Certified Fear Free CPDT-KA trainer in the Atlanta area. A little over a week ago I was contacted by a friend of Caddy's family.

Caddy had been in a fatal wreck.

 

At just under 4 months old he was only 3 days from his litter when his new human, his two dog siblings, and his little puppy self were careening in a tragic accident.

 

Cadillac Thor Dogo was the the sole survivor.

 

Squeezing himself between the back and front seat he remained there while EMTs couldn't save his new owner's life, while his mastiff sibling took off in shock passing soon after, and his Cane Corso sister faded next to him.

Caddy was rushed to emergency vet where he was treated for broken bones and lung bruising while his brief owner's family were in despair about losing their son/brother/cousin etc.

With most his family in India and the others never owning a dog before, Caddy was lucky to have an advocate. The breeder was NOT a good option to return him to so instead he's now undergoing some basic training while learning, most importantly, the world won't always be so scary

 

Caddy is a Dogo Argentino, this is a very large working breed dog known for the potential of animal aggression due to their lineage as boar hunters. Caddy has shown no aggression to anything but peanut butter and is a very quick study.

 

But he and his family need help!

They just lost someone and the added expense of surgery, vaccinations, food, toys, medicine, boarding, training, adoption process. All of this is far too much not only fiscally, but emotionally to process for them right now.

 

This go fund me will be used to fund Caddy's care including reimbursement for his surgery that came the same day as their brother's cremation. ANY FUNDS IN EXCESS WILL BE DONATED TO EITHER ANIMAL RESCUES OR USED FOR CADDY'S TRAINING!

Caddy has done nothing wrong, a dog like him will not thrive being shuffled from place to place. Dogos are beautiful complex dogs that need sensitivity and experience.

 

He needs one spot to heal, learn to trust, get foundational obedience and socialization and, of course love, before he moves to his furever.
