Help Caden with his kidney transplant expenses
Donation protected
Hello, I am fundraising for Caden and NIkki. A year ago, Caden began emergency peritoneal dialysis. Before starting dialysis, Caden was placed on the kidney transplant list. Due to covid, surgeries at Children's Hospital were on hold, and the wait for transplant continued making the need for dialysis necessary. After living near the hospital for three months, finances saved for transplant surgery needed to be used. After three potential kidneys proved not to be the perfect match, Caden was placed on the live donor list (bridge program) due to his cousin Erin placing herself on the live donor list since she wasn't a match for Caden. On April 20th, Caden finally received the gift of a kidney and went into surgery. After many hurdles and insurance changing housing has become difficult. Transplant housing is full and not an option for the 2-3 months required for Caden's post-transplant care. The two hotels that his insurance will work with are in an area that is unsafe and unsanitary for his care and healing. We have spent time with social workers, guest services, and patient-family relations to figure out safe/sanitary housing. We know this will be another hurdle in this long and exhausting journey. Caden will be discharged today from the hospital, and this family needs help. These funds will ensure Caden is housed in a safe and clean environment while continuing post-transplant care at a children's hospital for 2-3 months. Please consider donating to help ease some of the financial burdens of now having to provide housing on their own without the help of insurance or patient services. This is not a family to ask for help, so I ask on their behalf. Please consider donating so Nikki can focus on Caden's recovery and not financial stress.
